Blackstrap BBQ - Holy Smoke, That's Good!

Tried out this BBQ joint in Montreal and was pleasantly surprised with the cooking of the meats. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork and chicken all cooked to perfection in their smoker. I asked the cooked what kind of wood and she didn't know, but I think it is a hard wood smoke.
One of the top BBQ joints in Montreal in my books. Did find the sauces kinda ordinary but the smoke makes up for any lack of sauce flavour... Check them out!

The Power of Smoke - Salt Licks Part II

Second visit this year, what a meal. Don't need food for a week now - my guts are overwhelmed!
Excellent atmosphere, wonderful stage, outstanding BBQ - bring a few drinks and enjoy the place for the evening.

Oxford Breakfast since 1944

Great Montreal establishment in the NDG area, serving breakfast all day.
But there is only one breakfast afterall...
Eggs benny served with a slightly spiced hollandaise and a top notch morning potato with a hint of dill Bam! and then another Bam!
I have read many bad reviews about the joint so this is only a recommendation for the eggs benny... Never eat the rest, no reason to!

March Jean-Talon

On a cold wet May weekend the best way to make the inner sunshine is to go to the market. S. and I went to Jean Talon Market to get inspired... We literally ran into El Ray's menu and Mexican it was!

Needed to replenish my hot sauce supply to boot!

Then out into the market to find our freshness to accompany the richness that Mexican food has to offer.

End game turned out to be a burrito stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and a wonderful salsa verde - there was so much I feed my sick families household with warmth and love; just gringo heat though - lightweight when it comes to heat.

The Perfect Poutine - Richmond

With the warmer weather finally coming around the greasy spoon cantines are awaking from the winter slumber. I was in Richmond, QC. a week ago and had a craving for fries, cheese curd and sauce... Found this place that had over 20 different poutines on the menu, I took the house special -  the Ti-Roux; fries, cheese curd, brown gravy, hot dogs, ground beef, sausage, bacon and a side order of indigestion. It was delicious - meat. meat and more meat can never do the bodies too much harm, right?
